The Scion Xb is the kind of car that you either get or you dont. If you never saw the appeal of Toyotas affordable little boxand#44; welland#44; move onand#44; because theres nothing here for you. Howeverand#44; if that same little box represented huge untapped potentialand#44; and you remember how it transformed the import tuner sceneand#44; this 2004 Scion Xb should get your attention in a big way. Theres a lot going on hereand#44; but the big things are that there is more than $60and#44;000 wrapped up just in the modificationsand#44; never mind the purchase price of this cool little car. The two-tone paint is show-quality in almost every wayand#44; and if theres a flawand#44; its only from having been driven onto the show fieldand#44; because the 19and#44;708 miles on the clock strongly suggests it doesnt see the daily grind. Brilliant pink with basic black is a dramatic statement that works really well on the boxy Xb. Looking sleek wasnt the point; Scion aimed this box at practical young buyers but it was so funky and unusual that customizers and tuners found it an irresistible starting point. As a resultand#44; this one is just incredible in every way and has never been hit or wreckedand#44; and with only the most minor of tweaksand#44; takes on a whole new look. A slightly deeper air damand#44; a rear spoilerand#44; and tinted windows work with that trick paint to create a one-of-a-kind show piece that still stands out. You can see just how much money went into the build by opening any of the doors. Completely redesigned by Cdiditand#44; it starts with leather bucket seatsand#44; pink ambient lightingand#44; and a lot of color-coordinated details. If youre thinking thats easyand#44; guess again; taking each plastic part out of the carand#44; smoothing and prepping itand#44; and then carefully reinstalling it to prevent damage is part of that $60and#44;000 bill. Of courseand#44; you already know its got a bigand#44; thundering stereo system that fills the box with soundand#44; anchored by an AM/FM/CD/iPod/Bluetooth setup with a touchscreen to manage it. The original gauges are still in the center of the dashand#44; perched up high where theyre easy to seeand#44; and all the creature comforts are still completely intact and functional: A/Cand#44; tilt wheeland#44; power windows and locksand#44; and a sunroof overhead. Its still practicaland#44; tooand#44; with a full back seat for your friendsand#44; although the cargo bay is full of a custom enclosureand#44; two 10-inch subsand#44; and enough amplifiers to light up a movie theater. The engine is the stock 1500 cc inline-fourand#44; but the point of this car isnt winning drag races. The engine has been dressed up like the rest of the carand#44; and everything under the hood was designed to show off. A chrome strut tower brace from DC adds some sparkle and the cam cover was painted pink to match the bodywork. A 5-speed makes this little block a lot of fun to drive and the air ride suspension system allows you to both cruise in comfort and slam it down at shows to really make it look right. A custom exhaust system gives it a snarling little barkand#44; but if youre going to drive this carand#44; youll appreciate that it doesnt get annoying on the highway. Cool 18-inch Diablo wheels are fitted and come with fat 215/35/18 performance radials wrapped around them. Given the investment in this cars constructionand#44; the asking price is a screaming bargain.
