1984 BMW Other for sale $39,900

Meticulously maintained and incredibly well documented. Bronzit with Nutria brown leather. I am the second owner. The original owner, an architect, obviously knew how to care for a car. Below are some highlights of the maintenance history and conversions. This is just a sampling of the work and maintenance done on the car by the pickiest of owners. The car has $85,000 in receipts since new. Documentation even includes every inspection since new.

On August 10, 1984, this car was purchased at Park Lane in London, England. The purchase price was $6,000 Pounds. The car spent 5 years of its life in London before exported to the U.S. in Oct. 1989. In 1996, the original 2.0-liter engine with a 2.5L Vanos engine from a 94 BMW 525i. The engine had 15,129 miles at the time of the conversion. Schneller BMW out of Newbury, Ma, performed the work. Additional upgrades included M5 motor mounts, 95 M3 radiator, E28 3.5L exhaust, 91 M5 brake booster, E36 5 speed, flywheel, pressure plates, throw out bearings, clutch disc and slave cylinder among all suspension upgrades with a total cost of $10, 415.

In 2000, the AC was converted to R134. A new gas tank was installed. Also, a ton of receipts verify that suspension and nearly all brake related items were replaced. At this time, the car had 113,000 miles. In 2001, a 1998 M3 engine with 12,000 miles was installed, with M3 flywheel andamp; clutch assembly. New throw out bearing plus a 1998 M3 5 spd gearbox and new drive shaft. New ACT LS 16x7.5 wheels and Koni Sport adj. shocks and Handamp;R front springs were added but later a softer set up was installed. Later in 2001, Euro M3 mass flow meter and injectors and a low mileage M6 steering box were added. A new Behr radiator was also installed. In 2003, the original owner wanting a softer ride opted to replace the Handamp;R set-up with Bandamp;G 528e sport springs. A new gas tank, final drivelines and rear brake lines were done; and a Bosch wiper motor. In 2004, OEM CAT back exhaust was done along with new front Koni shocks. Additional work done included steering track rod among standard and maintenance items. In 2008, maintenance items included new Randamp;L tie rod assemblies, pitman arms, new brake line circuit from master cylinder to rear trailing arms, new driveshaft flex disc. In 2009, all springs and struts were replaced. Bilstein Touring shocks were installed. Hella headlight assemblies were added too. In 2010, the following was done: remove rear suspension sub frame andamp; trailing arms and replace. Install eccentric toe andamp; camber adj. and any rusty hardware, sway bar mountings clamps were replaced. Recondition diff. housing andamp; axels. New fuel pump. New fuel lines from tank to engine bay. Replace rear wheel bearings. Front sub frame was done as well and new engine mounts among other maintenance items totaling $5,984. In 2014, new nutria brown leather seats redone at cost of $3,300.

Other: Documents include original bill of sale, all importation docs, and every inspection; as well as many parts that were either replaced or new. The only receipt I do not have is the new paint the car received which I estimate to have been done in 2012. The paint job cost $6,000 from what I can remember. Additional replacement items in last 6 years include all window knobs and parts, door handles and assemblies, all weather-stripping from doorsills to trunk to engine, and grills and all light assemblies front and rear. Basically, any part that showed any kind of wear, no matter how slight, has been replaced. The documents include a picture of the original engine. This car needs nothing and is hungry to be driven. Unfortunately, a couple back surgeries make it hard for me to enjoy a 5 speed, and it is time for me to sell to the next enthusiast regrettably. I estimate the M3 engine has about 60,000 miles in total on it since it was installed in
