MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this extremely rare 1973 Lincoln Continental Mk IV Bugazzi. Reported as only one of five coaches built Lincolns by legendary car customizer George Barris included with a Certificate of Authenticity. Barris built the Bugazzi on a Lincoln Continental Mark IV platform and it featured unusual custom touches throughout. Motor Trend even awarded the Bugazzi the andlsquo;Car of the Monthandrsquo; in July 1973.

The Bugazzi Custom is a styling exercise created by some of the industryandrsquo;s most talented and creative designers. Car show promoter Paul Rimmer enlisted ex-GM stylist Harry Bradly to create a dream car. The goal was to build an American Rolls-Royce using a Lincoln Mk IV platform. Production of the Bugazzi soon started and was then abruptly stopped. Enter Kustom Kar builder George Barris, who took the design and decided to make his own. Barris took over production of the Bugazzi and had plans to make as many as 25 examples per year, each for $29,500. Buyers included Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop. Including ours that was built especially for actor and comedian Danny Thomas.

Finished in a silver metallic, this custom shows extremely well. The list of customization done on the Bugazzi includes hand painted pin stripping, a six-inch longer frontal area, dual floating oversized square brass headlights, modified front fenders, front-to-rear running boards, radius rolled wheel wells, canted door windows, air-foam padded top. All the trim is present, complete and displays normal wear. The front and rear bumpers fit and finish is good. The weather-stripping is pliable, with little or no signs of drying, tearing or shrinkage. The original Bugazzi 15-inch wheels present well, along with the wide-whitewall tires.

Inside, the grey leather tufted front bucket seats and rear seats appear with normal with only slight wear spots on the drivers seatandrsquo;s outside bolster visible. The matching grey door panels with real marble panels, carpet and dashboard also with real marble are a continuation of the striking silver exterior of the car and look fantastic. All gauges are in their place have correct appearance and function as originally designed, however the windshield wipers are inoperable. The originally equipped leather steering is in excellent condition with real marble inserts, however, the horn is inoperable. Power seats, power windows, power locks and upgraded Xtreeme AM/FM/CD stereo.

This nicely presented Continental equipped with a chrome accented 4 barrel, 460-cubic-inch V8 cylinder engine, and itandrsquo;s mated to a Select-Shift three-speed automatic transmission, 4 wheel disc brakes, power steering and power brakes. The wheels are 15-nch chrome deep dish rims with wide whitewall Coker classic tires.

This 1973 Lincoln Continental Bugazzi while it may look tame next to some of George Barrisandrsquo; other builds, but is still a wild custom compared to the standard Mk IV Continental. With George Barrisandrsquo;s death all of his creations are rapidly increasing in value. The original Bat mobile recently sold for $4.6 million at auction, no telling what this Barris Bugazzi with a Certificate Of Authority will do in the futureandhellip; GET OUT AND DRIVE!
