Details: For sale: a very rare limited edition example of the 2CV. The France 3 was offered by Citroen in a limited edition of just 2000 examples. Citroenandrsquo;s purpose at the time was to celebrate and support Franceandrsquo;s entry in the Americaandrsquo;s Cup World Series yacht racing. Profits from the sales went to sponsor the sailing teamandrsquo;s effort. The model became popular after the event, and with minor changes was sold in the UK as the Beachcomber, and in the Benelux as the Transat. This however without the trunk lid decal of the actual Atlantic racer. This particular car has been enthusiast owned and maintained for many years. Prior to being shipped to the US she received a major service and rebuilt by Burton Car Co. of the Netherlands. The work sheet is very long indeed, but here is an abbreviated list of work done, and new parts installed: NEW chassis, trunk, rear clip, floor boards, lower firewall, suspension cylinder fittings, suspension fittings, brake system, bumpers, wheel rims, major engine and transmission service, engine bay sound insulation, solid state voltage regulator, 123 Electronic Ignition, light switch, brake pads, w.w. blades, carburetor, fan blade, all new wheel arm bearings and seals, engine / transmission mounts, drive shaft boots, heater hoses, and so much more. If you are familiar with 2CVs, this basically means that the lower 1/3rd of the car was replaced with all new material. The car shows (and drives) very well indeed. The paint is clean and crisp, the decals are in excellent condition. The convertible roof and seat material are all of France 3 specifications and are in very good condition. The rear tires are new, the front tires are as good as new. The car is wonderful to drive. The engine is smooth and powerful, the transmission works perfectly. The engine is of the late model 602cc variety with a double barrel carburetor. There are disc brakes on the front, and drum brakes on the rear. She is a lovely example of a rare 2CV and a real joy to drive. (16andrsquo;000-)
