Details: When it was introduced in late 1962 the Buick Riviera proved to be an immediate success with many well known figures in the automotive industry, such as Raymond Loewy and Sir William Lyons, founder of Jaguar, praising its design and beauty. Sergio Pininfarina even said the Riviera was one of the most beautiful American cars ever built, because of its impressive return to simplicity in American car design. Arguably the most popular of the first generation Rivieras, the 1965 Buick Riviera received a slight redesign that saw the elimination of the side scoops on the rear quarter panels, the taillights relocated from the fenders to the rear bumper, and finally, the headlights were removed from the grille and hidden in the front fenders for an even sleeker, more stylish appearance. Sold new at Boulevard Buick in Long Beach, California, this 1965 Buick Riviera is an original California car and has resided in Southern California its entire life. Purchased from the original owner in 2006, the rust-free body was completely stripped, taken down to the bare metal, the trunk lock and antenna were shaved, and it was repainted House of Kolor Sunrise Pearl by Holix. Under the hood, a Wildcat 445 401ci Nailhead V8 and Super Turbine 400 3-speed automatic transmission have both been rebuilt along with the original Frigidaire A/C system which blows ice cold. After paint, the suspension was converted into an air ride system with Firestone air bags all around by The Bag Man air ride shop in Anaheim, California, while the original factory optional power brakes and steering were retained. Inside the interior, the upholstery has been redone by Chuyandrsquo;s Upholstery in tan buckskin leather with a tan vinyl headliner and black carpet, with black carpet in the trunk. Additional features include original factory optional power windows that work wonderfully as well as a Custom Autosound stereo with aux hookup in the console while the air ride controls and gauge have been hidden in the ashtray housing. The dash itself features a speedometer with trip meter, fuel gauge and warning lights for oil pressure, water temperature, and charging amperage, and is finished with a custom Flat4 wood steering wheel with Buick crest horn button. Outside, all the trim has been rechromed and polished and the Riviera rides on a set of American Classic 215/75R15 thin whitewall tires mounted on a set of custom made Zenith wire wheels with real knockoffs. The Riviera, known as Orange Crush in the custom car scene, was featured in the 2012 Long Beach Motorama, an invitation-only auto show, where it won and it was also a winner of the 2012 Ink-N-Iron auto show. As a super cool custom car that that also an original California car with its original Protect-O-Plate and California black plate, this Buick canandrsquo;t be beat. This Riviera is a turn-key cruiser that rides as beautifully as it looks and has all the amenities needed to get down the road in style and comfort. Cruise down the freeway at 80 with the A/C and stereo blasting, and when you get to your destination you can lay it out on the ground!
