Details: You probably dont run into an AMC Rambler too oftenand#44; but take a good look at this unusually cool 1965 AMC Rambler Classic 770 convertible. If you squint a little bitand#44; maybe it looks a bit like a Chevelleand#44; and with a strong-running 327 cubic inch V8and#44; it runs like one too. Ohand#44; and then check out the price and decide again if perhaps this isnt just about the coolest ragtop for the money anywhere.

Black-on-red is a fantastic combination and it sure looks like thats this Ramblers original combination. The black paint is probably factory-appliedand#44; so its showing some patinaand#44; but its dignifiedand#44; not beat-upand#44; and someone has obviously taken great care of this car over the past 50 years. The great thing about original paint is that you know there arent any nasty surprises waiting underneath and with blackand#44; you can see that its in great shapeand#44; with straight quarters and very good panel alignmentand#44; all belying the cars very affordable price tag. Of course its got a few signs of ageand#44; with scratches and nicks here and thereand#44; but it seems to simply invite you to get in and have fun rather than worrying about perfection. Let the other guys do that. We can guarantee that itll attract a lot of attention everywhere it goes simply because nobody has seen one before and theres enough chrome and stainless trim to make it look like it should be a lot more expensive. Its got a very cooland#44; almost gothic look that works rather well.

The red interior is sharply dressedand#44; with handsome striped bench seats and matching door panels. Like the exteriorand#44; the interior appears to be mostly original and we definitely like the look. The steering wheel has a cool horn ring and decorative trim and shows only minor signs of ageand#44; and the dashboard has enough bright trim to make the interior look upscaleand#44; not cheap. The red carpets have likely been replacedand#44; simply because theyre too nice to be oldand#44; but things like the dash pad and door panels dont seem to have suffered under the hot sun. The clock and radio arent workingand#44; which isnt unusualand#44; but you do get a recent white power convertible top that stows under a matching white bootand#44; and against the black and redand#44; it looks awesome. Theres also a gigantic trunk with a proper mat thats ready for a road trip.

You think Chevy was the only one with a 327? Guess againand#44; because this Rambler packs a rather potent V8 that offers plenty of punch and a user-friendly demeanor. Theres a Holley 4-barrel carburetor up topand#44; so throttle response is crisp and theres plenty of torque at just about any speed. It has obviously been recently detailed with corporate red engine enamel on the engineand#44; along with a big air cleaner up top with a proper reproduction decal on it. New ignition components help it run properly and theres a big radiator up front. It also comes with power steering and power brakesand#44; making it a breeze to drive and the 3-speed automatic transmission has quick reflexes when youre out on the road and need a little extra power. The undercarriage is original but cleanand#44; more indications of a car that has led a life out of the elementsand#44; and there are highway-friendly gears out backand#44; so you can take this car just about anywhere without worries. Steel wheels with spinner hubcaps are the right choice and it carries 205/70/14 blackwalls that are perfect for the Ramblers low-key look.

For about half the price of a Bowtieand#44; you can have a cool Rambler. Sureand#44; you wont look like everyone else at the cruise-inand#44; but isnt that kind of the point? Call today!
