The legend of the Ford 427 is well documented. Before the Muscle car craze began the manufactures were already putting huge powerful engines in their full size cars, tearing up the drag strips and the stock car speedways across the country. Only 411 R code convertibles were produced with less than 100 units receiving the XL trim. Experts agree that fewer than 10 of these rare cars remain. This car spent its early life in Southern California before making its way to Texas. It was restores about 16 years ago and has remained in proper storage and driven less than 1000 miles. During that restoration a correct factory Ford power steering system was added. That is about the only modification found on this jewel. Exceedingly rare, limited production, even lower survival rate, and correctness make this a true collectors dream.
